“MARIO VALENTINO LAB” HANDMADE AND DESIGN
WITH THE SECOND UNIVERSTITY OF STUDIES OF NAPLES


Naples, December 19th 2013. Everything is ready for “Mario Valentino Lab”, creative and experimental workshop, planned with the Department of Civil Engineering, Design, Building Industry and Environment, (DICDEA) run by Alessandro Mandolini, and FA.RE. Fashion Research Lab of The Second University of Studies of Naples. The experimentation will start on Thursday December 19th, at 10 a.m., at Mario Valentino company in Naples, in via Fontanelle 85. The university team will carry out the Capsule Collection “BIANCA-DXIXMV”, which will be presented at Mario Valentino showroom during Milano Collezioni Event in September, Spring/Summer 2015 edition.

THE MVLAB PROJECT – “Mario Valentino Lab” is a synergy course between an excellent Made in Italy company and University, oriented to increase the value of a significant internationally known production world in Campania. The students, who have already attended theory classes on the history of the brand, will start the work into Mario Valentino leather warehouse and in the rooms of its historic factory, where they will be able to see the leather manufacturing machineries. The visit will go on in the room used as a historical archive, where the students can see the sketches and the clothes created by the Neapolitan griffe with the cooperation of Versace, Armani, Lagerfeld and they can see the advertising campaigns created by Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin and Franco Rubartelli, in order to understand the creative course of the Company and the marketing strategies. The itinerary will be closed by the simulation of a style department, in which the company team, coordinated by the supervisors Bianca Valentino and Mario Valentino, will relate to the University one, in order to create prototypes of the selected clothes, shoes and accessories.
The workshop will be closed in Milan, where the Capsule Collection will be presented.

THE UNIVERSITY - The students of the Master Degree Course in Design for the Innovation attended theory classes on the brand in the course “ History and trends of contemporary fashion”held by Professor Ornella Cirillo. They created an innovative scenary, directed by Patrizia Ranzo Professor of “Advanced fashion scenaries”, they will work at the Capsule in the course of “Fashion Design 1” with Roberto Liberti. The University team makes use of the scientific contribution of FA.RE. Workshop, with the researchers Maria Antonietta Sbordone, Rosanna Veneziano, Francesca Castanò and PH.D Giulia Scalera and Mara Rossi.
